102 new COVID 19 cases and 2 deaths

There was a big jump in new COVID 19  cases on Saturday.   102   cases were recorded increasing the country’s tally to 11 thousand 710.

At the same time, the country recorded 2 more deaths from the virus.  The deceased are a 61-year-old male and a 79-year-old female both from St. Catherine.

Their deaths were previously under investigation.   Another death is being investigated. 273 people have now died from the virus.

Meantime the 102  new cases consist of 57 males and 44 females with one case under investigation, ranging in age from 4  to 82 years.

A  breakdown of the figure shows St Ann with the highest number of cases at 24, followed by Westmoreland with 15, Manchester  13, St Catherine and Kingston and St Andrew 10 each, St James 9, Clarendon, Hanover, Portland and St Thomas 4 each,  Trelawney 3 and St Elizabeth and St Mary 1 case each.

155 persons have recovered. There are now 3329 active cases.

92 patients are in hospital. 11 are moderately ill and 2 are critically ill.
