As the month of August comes to an end today (Aug 31), it has been dubbed the bloodiest month so far this year, for the nation’s children.

This as 6 children were killed in August; 5 were murdered in July, making it altogether 11 child deaths, recorded during the summer holiday.

Director of Safety and Security in Schools, Assistant Superintendent of Police, Coleridge Minto, says between January and August, 33 children have been killed, and it is cause for concern.

Meantime, ASP Minto says, since the start of this year, several cases of rape were reported, 33 of them over the summer holiday alone.

He was speaking at a back to school awards function in Kitson Town St. Catherine, yesterday.
