Fire gutted several stalls at the Forum Fishing Village in Portmore, St. Catherine, this morning (April 3).

The Jamaica Fire Brigade said it received a call about the fire shortly after 2 am.

Acting Public Relations Officer at the Jamaica Fire Brigade Kerry Gayl Forbes, said 12 stalls were destroyed in the blaze.

While noting that the cause of the fire is not yet known, Mr. Forbes said the estimated loss is 16.4 million dollars.

This is the second major fire in the parish in less than a week.

At about 6pm on Friday, fire broke out at a Wisynco Warehouse, in Lakes Pen.

Two containers were destroyed and two trucks were partially damaged.

Mr. Forbes lauded the efforts of the Fire Brigade in getting both fires under control.
