Over 140 families affected by crime

by November 21st, 2017

Some 143 families in Jamaica have had a family member murdered by someone, who is on bail for another serious crime.

That’s according to National Security Minister Robert Montague.

Speaking at the National Police College of Jamaica second regional policing and security conference, this morning (Nov 21) Mr. Montague says although granting bail is the right of each citizen, there needs to be a balance with the needs of the families who are at risk.

The security minister highlights that, while alleged murderers are on bail, police officers charged for serious crimes are not granted that privilege.
