Fifteen people are in custody after three firearms and several rounds of ammunition were seized in three separate operations across the island on Sunday.
In the latest incident, at about 6:15 P.M, a team of officers conducted an operation on Martinique Drive, retreat in St. Thomas.
Reports from the Morant Bay police are that a premises was searched and a homemade firearm and one 12- gauge cartridge were found.
Two people, including a woman were arrested and taken into custody; their identities are being withheld pending further investigations.
About two hours earlier, at about 4:30 P.M, one firearm and four rounds of ammunition were seized during an operation in Woodford District, Irish Town in St. Andrew.
Police reports are that a team of officers conducting operation in the area seized a revolver, two 9 MM cartridges, one .38 special cartridge and one .44 cartridge at a cemetery.
No one was arrested.
And in the third seizure at around 12:45 A.M. a single action browning pistol with one magazine affixed containing eight 9MM cartridges was found in Grange Hill District, Westmoreland.
Reports from the Savanna-La-Mar police are that lawmen conducted an operation in the area and during a search of the premises, the weapon was found in a garbage bin in the bathroom.
Twelve men and one woman were taken into custody pending further investigations.
