by September 14th, 2018

A record number of over one hundred and sixty sites have been registered in the International Coastal Clean Up exercise to take place across the island tomorrow (Sep 15).

CEO of the Jamaica Environment Trust (JET) Suzanne Stanley says the organisation will be hosting its main clean up exercise at the Palisadoes Strip in Kingston.

She says over two thousand five hundred volunteers have been registered for tomorrow’s activities.

She says the aim is to have more garbage picked up this year in comparison to last year.

Stanley lauds the National Environment and Planning Agency (NEPA) and the Urban Development Corporation (UDC) along with other site coordinators for their partnership with jet to have the nation’s coasts cleaned.

She urges these groups to continue to raise awareness about coastal pollution.

International Coastal Clean up Day is observed globally on the third Saturday in September each year.
