17 schools to reopen in 2-week pilot in November

by October 29th, 2020

Education Minister Fayval Williams has announced that the government will be allowing 17 schools to resume face to face engagements, as part of a 2-week pilot, starting November 9.

This pilot will facilitate an assessment of how the schools operate amid Coronavirus concerns and help determine if face to face learning will be allowed in more schools later on.

Speaking at a virtual press conference Mrs. Williams noted that the face to face engagement will be done in conjunction with other modes of remote learning, involving radio/television, printed material and online.

She said following extensive reviews and consultations, the ministry determined that 73 schools were deemed to be of relatively low risk for COVID.

The minister said the 17 selected schools are in 9 parishes.   She did not identify the schools.
