18 new COVID cases and 1 more death

Jamaica has recorded a decline in the number of COVID 19 cases.   The Health Ministry says 18 persons tested positive for the virus Monday, 49 fewer than the number recorded on Sunday.

The country’s case count now stands at 91 thousand  5 hundred and 54.

Of the new cases, 11 are females and 7 are males.  They range in age from 4 months to 91 years.

The positivity rate is 3.6 percent.

Meantime, an 84-year-old male from St. Ann is the latest person to die from the virus.   The death toll now stands at 2 thousand 4 hundred and 11.  One other death is under investigation.

130 persons are hospitalized, 28 of them are moderately ill, 10 severely ill and 9 critically ill.

127 more persons have recovered from the virus, pushing total recoveries to 63 thousand, 2 hundred and 23.
