2 former Clansman Gang members to assist in proving case against the 33 alleged gang members

The prosecution will be relying on two former members of the St. Catherine based Clansman Gang, to assist in proving its case against the 33 alleged members of the gang, whose trial began this morning (September 20) in the Home Circuit Court.

They will start testimony by video link tomorrow (September 21), from a remote location.

The accused have all pleaded not guilty to charges under the Anti Gang Legislation.

The accused are charged with being members of a criminal organization, which facilitated criminal offences.

The 25 count indictment alleges that the numerous offences occurred between January 2015 and June 2019.

Andre Bryan also called Blackman and Teacher is charged with being the alleged leader of the organization.

Bryan and some of the accused are facing several counts of murder, conspiracy to murder, illegal possession of firearm and arson of dwelling houses.

The trial is held in two court rooms with the support of video-link technology.

The sole woman charged, is St. Thomas resident Stephanie Cole- Christie, who the Crown is alleging facilitated criminal offences along with members of the gang.

There is very tight security inside and around the precincts of the court Downtown Kingston, where the case is being tried.

Chief Justice Bryan Sykes who is presiding at the trial said today, that the trial was going to last several weeks.

He gave his expectations for tomorrow’s proceedings.
