by February 9th, 2022

Some 21 Jamaican Entertainers are to be awarded for their work when the “Reggae Month Irie Fm Music Awards” is held on Tuesday March 1.

The awards event which was halted for over a decade, was relaunched this morning (February 9) during Irie Fm’s Wake Up Call Programme.

Announcers K‘shema Francis and Courtney Mac outlined the various categories.

Among some of the major categories are: Album of the Year, Deejay of the Year and Song of the Year.

Album of the Year saw the likes of Masicka’s “438”, Alkaline’s Top Prize, Spice’s “10” among others.

Meanwhile, awardees for Male Deejay of the Year included: Masicka, Alkaline, Vybz Kartel, among others; with Spice, Koffee and Shenseea vying for Female Deejay of the year.

Listeners can vote for their favourite artiste for 2021 via the text line 876-350-2838.

Meantime, Chairman of the Awards Committee Nicholas Evans, says the awards are being brought back on board, to promote and reward talent.

He says winners will be provided with a plaque.

Mr. Evans notes that with Irie Fm being the world’s first authentic Reggae radio station, it is only befitting that the initiative returns.

He underscores that the nominees were selected based on recommendations from persons in the music and entertainment industry.

The awards are being held in association with the Ministry of Entertainment.
