25,000 PATH students to receive laptops during the 2022/2023 academic year

Twenty-five thousand students on the Programme of Advancement Through Health and Education, PATH, will receive laptop computers, during the 2022/2023 academic year.

 

Education and Youth Minister Fayval Williams says more than 11,500 of the devices have been issued.

 

15 laptops were provided to path students during the 2021/2022 academic year.

 

Mrs. Williams says more than 8,500 teachers received laptops in the 2021/2022 academic year, with another 8,000 slated to get devices this year, for which e-vouchers have already been provided.

 

The ministry will also be issuing, 720 desk-top computers to 25 high schools.

 

These are being provided by the Overseas Examinations Commission.

 

Meanwhile, E-Learning Jamaica Limited, an agency of the ministry is procuring 10,000 laptops, to build out Information and Communications Technology-labs in high schools, in preparation for Caribbean Examinations Council, CXC, E-Testing exams.
