by January 18th, 2022

Jamaica saw a significant increase in the value of goods exported from the island last year.

According to Director General of the Statistical Institute of Jamaica (STATIN) Carol Coy, exports went up by 26.3 per cent.

Speaking at a quarterly press briefing yesterday (January 17), Ms. Coy said exports from the agriculture sector went up by 7.5 per cent, due mainly to increased exports of yam and coffee.

Meantime, Ms. Coy noted that imports were also up last year, increasing by 23.3 percentage points.

She noted, however, that the total value of imports is still below pre-pandemic levels.
