37 new covid cases; one death

Thirty-seven more people have tested positive for COVID-19, pushing the country’s case count to 50,757.

 

Of the new cases, 23 are females and 14 are males, with an age range of 2 to 98 years.

 

A breakdown by parish shows, that Westmoreland recorded the highest number of cases with 11, and Hanover followed with 7.

 

St. James had 5, St. Elizabeth and Kingston and St. Andrew had 4 each, St. Catherine had 3, Manchester had 2, and Clarendon had 1 case.

 

Trelawny, St. Thomas, St. Mary, St. Ann and Portland recorded no new case.

 

The positivity rate is 7.6 %.

 

Meantime, a 70-year-old male from Kingston & St. Andrew is the latest person to die from covid-19, pushing the death toll to 1,131.

 

92 people are hospitalized with 21 patients moderately ill and 10 critically ill.

 

1,029 more people have recovered from covid-19, pushing total recoveries to 40,029.

 

There are 9,237 active cases in the country.
