446 new COVID Cases and 5 deaths

The country has again recorded more than 400 new COVID 19 cases. There were also 5 deaths on Saturday. The 446 new cases have increased the country’s case count to 23, 263.

They comprise  177 males and 260 females with 9 under investigation, ranging in age from 1 to 96 years.

The parish break down shows Kingston and St Andrew had the highest, 195 cases, followed by St Catherine with 78,  St James 64, Clarendon 18,  St Ann 17,  St Thomas and Westmoreland 15 each, St Elizabeth 13, Hanover and Manchester 9,  St Mary 8 and  Trelawny 5.

Only Portland had no new case.

Meantime the 5 deceased are a 54-year-old man from St Elizabeth,  a 58-year-old female from Trelawny, a 43-year-old woman from St Mary, and two Corporate Area women aged 49 and 67.

The death toll is now 422. Three other deaths are under investigation.

92 people have recovered. There are now 9,209 active cases.  252 persons are in hospital. 22 are critically ill and 20 are moderately ill.

Meantime Prime Minister Andrew Holness  will speak to the nation Sunday afternoon at a media briefing. He indicated on Friday that he would host a press conference on the pandemic.
