458 new COVID 19 cases and 5 deaths

Jamaica has again recorded more than 450 new cases of the coronavirus. At the same time, there were 5 deaths, from complications linked to the Coronavirus.

The latest data from the Health Ministry show that 458 new cases were recorded Saturday, pushing the country’s case count to 21 thousand 382.

The cases comprise 180 males and 278 females with ages ranging from 1 day to 91 years.

Kingston and St Andrew had the highest number of cases 131, followed by St James with 50, St Catherine 47, Clarendon 43, St Ann 40, Trelawny 29, Westmoreland 27, Manchester 25, St Thomas 18, Portland 17, Hanover 14, St Elizabeth 9, and St Mary 8.

Meantime the deceased are : a 47-year-old woman and a 64-year-old man from St Elizabeth. Two women from St Catherine aged 68 and 55 and an 87-year-old man from Trelawny.

The Health Ministry says 2 of the deaths were previously classified as under investigation. There were also 2 coincidental deaths and one death is under investigation.

48 persons recovered and there were 7 thousand 846 active cases.   12 persons are in quarantine facilities.

245 are hospitalized with 68 being moderately ill and 29 being critically ill.
