5 arrested in connection with probe into party and killing of policeman in Clarendon.

Five persons have been arrested in connection with the probe into the killing of a policeman and the holding of a party Saturday evening in Hardwood district Clarendon.

Police Commissioner Major General Antony Anderson commended members of the community who provided information that assisted the Manchester Police to launch a series of coordinated operations which led to the arrests.

The cop has been identified as Constable Kirkland Plummer of the Spaulding Police station in Manchester.

Meantime commanding officer for Manchester Superintendent Gary Francis says the police are resolute and will not rest until the killer or killers are brought to justice.

Meantime police have released the details surrounding the killing of Constable  Plummer.

A statement says he was killed in a brutal mob attack after arresting a man who had a gun at a party in Clarendon Saturday evening.

Preliminary reports are that Constable Plummer arrived at the event taking place in Harwood district sometime after 9 pm.

Within minutes of his arrival, a man was seen firing shots in a gun salute.

The policeman who was from a nearby community, proceeded to arrest the man and seized the weapon, and a tussle ensued.

During the altercation, a single round was discharged and the man was shot and wounded.

Constable Plummer subdued the man, seized the weapon and called for assistance.

While assistance was on the way, a group of individuals attacked the constable, in spite of being told that he was conducting his lawful duties as a policeman.

Persons hurled broken concrete blocks at him and an individual or individuals shot him twice.

The police say attempts were made to rush Constable Plummer to the hospital, but the angry crowd prevented this from happening.

However, patrons at the event rushed the man who was wounded to a nearby hospital, where he died. He has been identified as 27-year old Dwayne Schloss.

Constable Plummer’s licensed firearm was retrieved from the scene along with the browning 9mm pistol and ammunition, which he retrieved from Schloss.
