61 Early Childhood Institutions, ECIs, operating across the island are delinquent, as their operators have not applied to be registered.

The revelation was made by Chairperson of the Regulation and Certification Committee of the Early Childhood Commission, ECC Board, David Salmon.

Speaking during the virtual launch of ECC’s Report: Assessment of Early Childhood Institutions March 2022, this morning (April 27), he said of the 2,373 ECIs in operation, 97 per cent have applied for registration.

Mr. Salmon noted however, that more government operated schools are being compliant.

Meantime, he said some 44 per cent or 1,056 of ECIs are falling below standard.
