7 Deaths and 239 new COVID 19 cases

A 16-year-old girl from Kingston and St. Andrew is among seven persons who died from COVID 19 Monday, pushing the country’s death toll to 432.

The other deceased are three persons from Kingston and St. Andrew, two men aged 84 and 75 and a woman aged 78, an 83-year-old man from Manchester, a 72-year-old woman from Westmoreland and a 61-year-old man from Trelawny.

Two of the deaths were previously classified as under investigation.  The Health Ministry says one coincidental death was also reported.

Meantime 239 new cases were recorded Monday, pushing that tally to 23 thousand 8 hundred and 38.  Of the new cases, 104 are males and 135 are females with ages ranging from 5 months to 101 years. St Ann recorded the highest number of cases with 67, followed by Kingston and St. Andrew with 61.

Clarendon and Portland had 20 cases each, St. Catherine 19, St. James 18, Manchester 13, St. Elizabeth 7, Hanover 6, St. Mary 5 and Trelawny 3.

Meantime, there were 123 recoveries pushing that tally to 13 thousand 6 hundred and 25.

9 thousand 5 hundred and 58 cases are active.

260 patients are hospitalized among them are 25 who are critically ill and 27 who are moderately ill.
