Kings Valley gang trial: witness gives gruesome details of crimes

The trial of the alleged members of the Westmoreland-based King Valley Gang continued today, with the main crown witness giving details of some of the crimes allegedly committed by the gang.

 

The witness said, a member of the gang told him how a man who had a dispute with a member of the gang was shot, stabbed and then set ablaze.

 

Eight alleged members of the gang are on trial.

 

During the testimony of the main crown witness which began on Tuesday, the court was given details of rape, which he said, he also participated in.

 

The witness also testified that he and gang members went in search of a man.

 

When they went to the house of the man they were looking for, they kicked the door open, took items from the house and then set the house on fire.

 

The charges against the eight alleged gang members who are on trial stem from crimes committed between 2016 and 2018.

 

The witness who is a former member of the gang, said that women linked to persons with whom the gang had disputes, were raped at gunpoint and threatened.

 

The crown is alleging that the meeting place for the men was in the Kings Valley community in Westmoreland, where it is alleged, that criminal activities were planned.

 

The men are accused of conspiring to commit murder, rape and robberies, and other offences under the criminal justice (suppression of criminal organizations) act.

 

The accused on trial are Carlington Godfrey, Lindell Powell, Ranaldo McKennis, Derval Williams, Hopeton Stanley, Ghriston Grant, Copeland Sankey and Sean Suckra.
