Police locate baby stolen from mother last year

Police believe they have found a baby boy who was stolen from his mother over three months ago in the Corporate Area.  The child was located at a house in Kingston 11  this morning. A woman has also been taken into custody.

Four-month-old Nyyear Frank of Hopewell  District, St. Andrew was reportedly stolen from his mother at 5 weeks old, on Sunday, October 13 last year.

Reports are that about 5:00 p.m. that day Nyyear’s mother was walking with him along Rousseau Road in st. Andrew when a motor car drove up with three men aboard. One man alighted from the vehicle and forced them into the motorcar. The men took the child and released the mother from the vehicle.

Police said acting on intelligence on Wednesday, January 22, detectives searched a house at a location in Kingston 11 and discovered the child. The child was taken to the police station and identified by the mother.

A DNA test will be conducted to confirm the identity of the child.

Police say the child appears to be in good health.

Police are withholding the identity of the woman taken into custody pending further investigation.
