The outfield at the Kensington Oval in Barbados has been given the thumbs-down by the International Cricket Council ICC.

ICC match referee Jeff Crowe, who oversaw the first two one-day internationals between West Indies and Ireland at Kensington oval a few weeks ago, has given the outfield an average rating, which is “a hair’s breadth away from a demerit point”.

Crowe, a former New Zealand captain, submitted his finding to the ICC based on inspections of the ground for the two one-day internationals which were played on January 7 and 9.

CWI Chief Executive officer Johnny Grave later stated that Crowe, in his report rated the pitch for both matches as good, but had concerns about the outfield.
