Industry players support Koffee’s historic Grammy win

Members of the entertainment industry are showing strong support for Koffee following her historic Grammy win on Sunday.

2019 Grammy-winner Shaggy, along with dancehall entertainers Mavado, Spice, Ding Dong, Spragga Benz, Masicka, Cecile, and Richie Stephens, along with soca star Machael Montana, and reggae singers Maxi Priest, Nesbeth, and JahMiel are some of the industry players who sent congratulatory messages to Koffee via social media.

In her acceptance speech, Koffee dedicated her award to Reggae and Jamaica, and thanked the elders in the industry for paving the way.

Prime Minister Andrew Holness and Minister of Culture Olivia Grange have also congratulated Koffee on her historic win.

The 19-year-old created history on Sunday being the first female and the youngest to ever win the Grammy for Best Reggae Album. Koffee is also the first to win the Best Reggae Album with an EP.

According to the Grammy rules, Koffee’s EP ‘Rapture’ which has the minimum 5 songs required, and surpassing the minimum 15 minute mark with 16 minutes of playing time made her eligible.

The 62nd annual Grammys was held on Sunday night at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.
