The JFF has begun the process of decentralizing its coaching education programme with an advance level 1 course that got underway this morning at St Elizabeth high school in the South Central Zone.

The advance level one courses are under the auspices of the JMMB/JFF/Utech coaching school which began courses February 7, 2009, and is under the direction and guidance of the director of football at the JFF, Wendell Downswell.

Coaches are trained in the four pillars of coaching namely technical, tactical, physical and psychological aspects of the modern game.

This approach of decentralization is aimed at ensuring that coaches involved in the important parish leagues as well as youth development programs at the parish level are exposed to the same level of coaching education across the island.

The advance level 1 is a seventy hour course that combines a technical unit with a science unit.

The modules include: ethics of football coaching: fitness development theory: the female athlete: anatomy: systems of play: planning and preparing training sessions: sports medicine; bio-mechanics and technical and tactical development.
