Four Jamaicans named in the Cricket West Indies’ squad for upcoming ODI series against Sri Lanka

Four Jamaicans including Rovman Powell, Fabian Allen Brandon king and Sheldon Cottrell are named in the Cricket West Indies’ 15-member squad for the upcoming one-day international (ODI) series against Sri Lanka.

Powell makes a return after outstanding performances in the super 50 tournament while Allen returns after recovering from a leg injury he sustained in India late last year.

Experienced Trinidadian left hander Darren bravo also earns a recall following his good performance as well in the regional super 50.

However left-handed batsmen Evin Lewis and Shimron Hetmyer have both been omitted from the squad which played the recent series against Ireland after failing to attain the new minimum standard fitness requirements in recent fitness assessments.

The rest of the squad reads Sunil Ambri, Roston Chase, Jason Holder, Shai Hope, Alzari Joseph, Keemo Paul, Nicolas Pooran, Romario Sheperd and Hayden Walsh jr.

The squad will depart the Caribbean on Saturday and will have a pre-series camp in Colombo before they face the hosts in three One Day International on February 22, 26 and March 1.

This will be followed by two T20 internationals on March 4 and 6.

The squad for the T20 Intenational will be named at a later date.
