Dean Fraser, Shabba Ranks, Buju Banton, and IRIE FM’s Elise Kelly are among this year’s recipients of the Jamaica Reggae Industry Association (JaRIA) Honour Awards ceremony.

Other reggae stalwarts to be recognized at this year’s staging of the JaRIA Honour Awards ceremony, slated to take place on February 25, at the Little Theatre in St. Andrew, are Lady G, Orville “Xpressionz” Hall, Chevelle Franklin, and Philip “Fatis” Burrell, who will be honoured posthumously.

The annual Reggae Month event will honour persons who have contributed to the growth and development of reggae music.

According to JARIA, the Awards, which is a signature event for Reggae Month, “aims to bring out magical moments in history.”

Music News understands that one of the features of the ceremony will be a 30-piece reggae orchestra.

Other activities organized by JaRIA for Reggae Month are Reggae Wednesdays at Emancipation Park and Reggae University, which will be held every Thursday in collaboration with other institutions.

The first Reggae University will be held on February 6 at the Bob Marley Museum on Hope Road, St. Andrew.

Reggae Month 2020 is being celebrated under the theme ‘Come Ketch de Riddim’.
