by February 6th, 2020

Opposition Senator Donna Scott Mottley has suggested that the move by Prime Minister Andrew Holness to call a by election, does not signal that he is ready for a general election.

Speaking at the beginning of her state of the nation address Mrs. Scott Mottley said people were anticipating general elections based on utterances from the prime minister.

Yesterday, the Prime Minister said a bi-election was scheduled for March 2 for south east Clarendon while nomination day will be February 12.

This follows the resignation of Ruddy Spencer on Tuesday.

Mrs. Scott-Mottley says Jamaicans were awaiting general election.

She added that she is still awaiting discussions on some issues promised by the Prime Minister including fixed term elections.
