Hamstring injury rules out Raheem Sterling for several weeks

Jamaican-born England international Raheem Sterling will be out for weeks because a hamstring injury, according to Manchester City Manager Pep Guardiola.

Sterling who has featured in 23 of City’s 25 league matches this season, limped out of Sunday’s 2-nil defeat away at Tottenham.

Scans have since revealed damage to his left hamstring.

Guardiola when quizzed about sterling’s recovery says it takes weeks.

Guardiola also described his absence as a problem.

The injury means sterling, who has scored 20 goals this season, is doubtful for the champions league last 16 first leg against Real Madrid on February 26.

Manchester city occupy second place on the English Premier League table on 51 points…….22 behind runaway leaders Liverpool who lead the way on 73.
