Mandeville hospital patient among persons isolated and quarantined

Chief Medical Officer Dr. Jacqueline Bisasor McKenzie has confirmed that a patient has been isolated at the Mandeville regional hospital

 

She says the patient who arrived in the island from China on Sunday does not meet the case definition for the coronavirus but has enough symptoms for her to be under investigation.

 

Dr. Bisasor-McKenzie says the patient remains in a stable condition and the test results are to be received today.

 

The coronavirus continues to be a concern, worldwide.

 

Globally, more than 80,000 people in more than 40 countries have been infected. Nearly 2,800 have died the majority in China’s Hubei province.

 

Meantime, ten persons are in quarantine and 2 in isolation in relation to the coronavirus (Covid-19).

 

This was revealed by Health and Wellness Minister, Dr. Christopher Tufton at a press conference in Kingston this morning.

 

Noting that as at yesterday, 141 persons arrived in Jamaica who had been in China 14 days prior to entering Jamaica Dr. Tufton said 5 persons are in quarantine in government facilities, 5 in home quarantine and 2 persons in isolation.

 

He says the test results of those in isolation are to be ready soon.

 

4 quarantine facilities have been designated in anticipation of new arrivals.
