Organizers for this year’s Met Gala have announced the postponement of the star-studded event in light of the very serious concerns surrounding the Coronavirus pandemic.

On Monday, Vogue announced that the event, which was originally set to take place on May 4, is postponed.

Meanwhile, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, where the Met Gala and corresponding exhibit has been held in recent years, announced last Thursday that it would be closing its doors temporarily through April 4, cancelling and postponing all programs and events through May 15.

The Gala has been a major fundraiser for the Costume Institute since 1948.
