Efforts being made to assist Jamaican hotel workers stranded in the US

by March 25th, 2020

State Minister for Labour and Social Security Zavia Mayne has assured that efforts are being made to assist some Jamaican hotel workers said to be stranded in the United States.

It’s reported that the workers have been left jobless because the resorts to which they were employed have closed down due to the coronavirus.

Further reports are that their flights to jamaica were cancelled at least twice and the matter was compounded by the government’s order barring all incoming passenger flights.

In Parliament, Wednesday Opposition spokesman on Labour Horace Dalley appealed to the government to help the stranded workers.

In response, Mr  Mayne said the government was only made aware of the issue Wednesday morning.
