Industry players react to COVID-19 curfew

by April 1st, 2020

Some members of the entertainment industry are reacting to the Jamaican Government’s decision to impose an all-island curfew in a bid to quell the spread of the Coronavirus.

Starting today, April 1, the all-island curfew will last for seven days from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. to slow down the spread of COVID-19, which has killed three persons locally, with another 38 infected with the virus.

Selector Ricky Trooper said he supports the move one hundred percent.

The imposition of the curfew means, there will be restrictions on all movement of persons except for persons working in the essential services. Exempted persons will be required to produce valid identification. There will also be restrictions on public transportation.

Prime Minister Andrew Holness made the announcement Monday evening at Jamaica House. Members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force have been given clear instructions to enforce the stipulated restrictions.
