Travellers who failed to report to Health ministry and self-quarantine face charges

by April 3rd, 2020

Prime Minister Andrew Holness says the government is intensifying door to door searches for persons who came into the island between March 18 and 23 and have not reported to the ministry of health as required.

He says these persons will be charged.

Speaking at a digital press conference a short while ago, the Prime Minister noted that only about 460 of the more than 5,000 individuals have contacted the authorities.

He noted that the others who have not reported, continue to pose a risk to the country as it combats the spread of covid-19.

Mr. Holness said the police force has created a list of the persons who came into the island and is working with the ministry of health to locate them.

Persons who have failed to self-quarantine will be charged under the disaster risk management act.

The Prime Minister also noted that the non-compliant persons will be added to a watch list and prevented from travelling.
