Entertainment Minister launches COVID-19 Virtual Concert Telethon

Minister of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sport, Olivia ‘Babsy’ Grange on Sunday successfully launched a COVID-19 Telethon, a virtual fundraising concert, promoting a call to action to donate to an exclusive fund to aid in Jamaica’s COVID-19 relief efforts.

Under the theme, ‘Together We Stand’ the telethon kicked off with a virtual live performance by reggae singer Chris Martin streamed on record label VP Records YouTube.

During the live performance viewers and fans are encouraged to visit ja-together-we-stand.com to donate.

The COVID-19 Telethon Jamaica, is a joint effort between The Ministry of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sports, The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, and the Ministry of Tourism and reggae record label, VP Records.

Funds from the telethon will be used to purchase personal protective equipment (PPEs) for doctors, nurses, and other frontline healthcare workers.

The next telethon is scheduled to take place on Easter Sunday, April 12.
