by June 15th, 2020

OMI has been ranked on Billboard’s ‘20 Songs of the Summer of the 21st Century.’

The list revealed on Thursday, sees Omi’s ‘Cheerleader’ coming in at number 18, ahead of the Runners Up for the year 2015, ‘See You Again’ by Charlie Puth and Wiz Khalifa, and ‘Bad Blood by Taylor Swift and Kendrick Lamar.

In acknowledging the impact of Omi’s song, Billboard said “sandwiched between No. 1s by Taylor Swift and The Weekend who dominated with his late-summer smash ‘Can’t Feel My Face’ was the six week run of the delightful reggae-pop track ‘Cheerleader’ from Jamaica’s OMI.”

According to Billboard, the list is less of a best songs list, and more about season-defining quality music we all know and love.

Billboard’s annual Song of the Summer concept tracks the most dominant songs on the Hot 100 chart from Memorial Day to Labour Day.
