“Denying fathers access to their children is a crime”- Razor B

by June 17th, 2020

While many entertainers have been using their voices to amplify the Black Lives Matter movement, dancehall deejay Razor B, has put his focus on another agenda.

For the past couple of days, Razor B has been using his social media platform to advocate for the rights of fathers. In a series of video posts, Razor B who noted that the situation is personal for him, says he is trying to be objective in his call for baby mothers to stop denying fathers who are willing, and able, access to their children.

“When is it okay to deny a father his right to access time with his child if he is good and is doing all the things?” asked Razor B. According to Razor B, though he is tired of the baby mama drama, he refuses to turn his back on his son, and keeping silent is no longer an option when it comes to his rights.

In his most recent post, he shared an article by Jamaica’s Early Childhood Commission reported in 2018, with statistics that show only 34% of children in Jamaica live with both parents, while 45.3% live with single mothers, and a mere 6% live with single fathers.

Razor B has also called on his fellow entertainment co-workers who have experienced a similar plight, to join his fight.

In February, the Canadian-Jamaican dancehall singjay in a lengthy post on Instagram revealed that he had a 2-year-old son outside of his marriage.

Father’s Day will be celebrated this Sunday, June 21.
