Retired Jamaican 400m Olympic hurdler, Shevon Nieto formerly Stoddart, is one step closer to pursuing her career in music, as she has made it to the 2nd round of auditions, for popular NBC talent show, America’s Got Talent.

On Tuesday night, Shevon who uses the stage name Shevon Stoddart wowed the judges with her heart-warming story, and original song ‘Through the Good and the Bad’, dedicated to her husband, a former Olympic high jumper, who suffered an injury in 2016, that left him paralyzed.

For her performance, Shevon received a standing ovation, and four yes votes from the judges, propelling her to the next round.

Shevon Stoddart represented Jamaica at the Olympic Games in Athens in 2004, and Beijing in 2008. In November, she released her first single and a music video, ‘Through the Good and the Bad’ with sales from the song going towards her and her husband’s ‘Helping Others Triumph Foundation’, which provides support for people with spinal injuries, strokes, and other disabilities.

Her music video caught the attention of the producers of America’s Got Talent, who reached out to her via email, inviting her to audition for the 15th season of the popular talent show, an offer she decided to accept.
