Reggae Sumfest gets new life with virtual staging

The cancellation of Reggae Sumfest has not dimmed the lights on celebrations for the annual music festival, as some 20 reggae and dancehall entertainers are expected to perform at a virtual staging of the show.

The organizers of Reggae Sumfest, have signed off on a deal with social networking giant Facebook, to showcase a series of virtual activities relating to the music festival across Facebook and Instagram.

Scheduled to take place the week of July 20-25, the virtual Reggae Sumfest will feature highlights of past performances, music workshops in partnership with Facebook, Instagram, and music streaming site Pandora, as well as interviews with artists.

According to team Sumfest, the virtual activities will mirror that of the annual show, with the simultaneous broadcasting of live performances by a number of entertainers streaming on Facebook and Instagram on Friday, July 24, and Saturday, July 25.

Among the artistes booked for the virtual staging of Reggae Sumfest are Sizzla, Maxi Priest, Protoje, DingDong, Chronic Law, Lila Ike, Daddy 1, and Sevana.
