Human Rights Commission Consultations

by July 26th, 2015

Public Defender, Arlene Harrison-Henry says greater efforts will be made to meet with citizens in their communities to ensure their involvement in the public consultations on the establishment of a National Human Rights Commission.

She was speaking recently at the Montego Bay Community College in St. James during the first of four consultations slated to be held about the Human Rights Commission.

However, the event was poorly supported by citizens, with only about 25 people attending, comprising mainly of presenters, the police and journalists.

Speaking at the event, Mrs Harrison-Henry said the location of that consultation, deprived community members of participating in greater numbers.
