The Chairman of local human rights lobby group, Jamaicans For Justice (JFJ) Dr Barry Wade, is dead.

Dr Wade passed away yesterday.

A statement from the JFJ last evening says Dr Wade was well known for his outstanding contribution to Jamaica in many fields, particularly in the area of the environment, church ministry and dedication to the cause of human rights.

Dr. Wade was a founding member of the organisation and served in many capacities.

The JFJ says he was committed to the principles of human rights and was a strong and reassuring voice within the organisation.
