Today is the final day of the first round of voting for eligible members of the Grammy Committee to cast their votes to determine the 2021 nominees.

The process ran from September 30 – October 12.

According to the Grammy’s website, the 63rd GRAMMY Awards will be happening on January 31, 2021, rain or shine, COVID-19 vaccine or not.

However, Organizers say whether or not there will be a live audience or red carpet will be determined and revealed closer to the big day.

The 63rd annual Grammy Awards will see some changes in four categories. For instance, the Best Urban Contemporary Album has been renamed Best Progressive R&B Album to include a more accurate definition. Best Rap/Sung Performance has been renamed Best Melodic Rap Performance. While the Latin Pop Album category has been renamed Best Latin Pop Or Urban Album, and Latin Rock, and the Urban Or Alternative Album category has been renamed Best Latin Rock Or Alternative Album. Also, there is no longer a specified maximum number of releases prohibiting artists from entering the Best New Artist category. The screening committees will determine whether the artist had attained a breakthrough or prominence before the eligibility year.

Meanwhile, over the years, many entertainers and industry players have called for Reggae and Dancehall to have its own categories as opposed to being pooled together under the Best Reggae Album category.

The nominees for the 63rd annual Grammy Awards will be announced in December. Entertainers who released a project between September 1, 2019, and August 31, 2020, will be eligible.
