Executive Director of Jamaicans for Justice (JFJ), Rodje Malcolm, says a bill for the National Identification System (NIDS) should not be contemplated until the Data Protection Act is operational.
Although the Data Protection Act was passed this year, Mr. Malcolm explains that it has not been enforced by the government.
He argues that the act is a very important safeguard when considering the implementation of NIDS.
To ensure that the NIDS truly benefit citizens, Mr. Malcolm says there are three principles under which it should be evaluated.
