Entertainers react to Biden/Harris victory

Dancehall entertainers Bounty Killer, Shaggy, and Cecile, are among the many social media users supporting the Biden/Harris ticket, following Joe Biden’s victory Saturday morning, copping 290 electoral votes, ahead of Donald Trump’s 214.

On Instagram, Bounty Killer shared a pic of the results which captioned, “Can’t fool the ppl all the time. Now they see the light, they gonna stand up for their rights,” a quote from Bob Marley’s 1973 hit, Get Up Stand Up.

Meanwhile, Shaggy used his social media platform to congratulate both Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.

Whereas Cecile used the same medium to highlight Kamala Harris and the historic nature of the victory. Cecile wrote, “History #2020 something amazing to remember about this year. Madam Vice President (elect).”

The Biden/Harris victory makes Kamala Harris, not just the first Black woman to be selected as a vice-presidential candidate in the United States, but also a child of immigrants. Harris is the first woman of Indian and Jamaican descent to reach a position in US politics that has long been reserved for whites only.

After days of counting, Joseph R. Biden Jr was elected the 46th President of the United States.

In relating news, Democratic supporters in Philadelphia celebrated Joe Biden’s victory cheering and grooving to the sounds of Chaka Demus and Pliers 1992 Dancehall hit, Bam, Bam.
