5 more die from COVID 19

Five people died from COVID 19 complications on Saturday, increasing the death toll to 256.

The deceased are:  a 44-year-old male from Westmoreland, a 77-year-old female from St. Ann and three people from Kingston and St Andrew two women aged 66 and  86 and a 70-year-old man.

There was one coincidental death and another death is under investigation.

Meantime 40 new cases were recorded, pushing the overall tally for the country to 10,709.  They are 17 males and 23 females, ranging in age from  5  to 78 years.

Kingston and St Andrew had the highest number of cases with 14, followed by St Ann with 8, St Catherine 4, St Mary, Trelawny and Westmoreland had 3 each, St James, St Thomas,   Clarendon, Manchester and Hanover had one case each.

Portland and St Elizabeth recorded no new case.

113 patients recovered with that number now at  6,066.

66 persons are hospitalized,  12 are moderately ill and 7 are critically ill.
