Co-Chair of The Economic Programme Oversight Committee (EPOC), Richard Byles says the government should not delay the holding of elections.
Mr Byles says the process should not be dragged out as this will not be beneficial to the country.
In the meantime, Mr Byles says whichever party wins the general election must continue the programme with The International Monetary Fund (IMF).
He says even if there are aspects of the agreement with which the winning party may not be happy, that administration may be able to negotiate with the fund to a point.
But, Mr Byles says that government must honour the agreement with the fund.
He was speaking at the monthly EPOC Media Briefing in New Kingston yesterday.
