Jamaica records 154 new covid-19 cases

Jamaica recorded 154 covid-19 cases yesterday (January 3, 2020), pushing the country’s tally to 13,203.

 

The Health and Wellness Ministry says, of the new cases, 84 are males and 69 are females, with ages ranging from 9 months to 98 years.

 

Westmoreland recorded the highest number of cases with 28, Kingston and St. Andrew and Manchester follow with 24 each, St. Catherine had 21, St. James saw 17, Clarendon had 12, Trelawny had 7, St. Ann and St. Elizabeth saw 6 cases each, Hanover had 5, St. Mary had 2, and St. Thomas and Portland recorded 1 case each.

 

Meantime, 84 persons are hospitalized, with 10 patients being moderately ill and 8 patients critically ill.

 

While there was no recorded covid-19 death, 2 deaths are under investigation.

 

The Ministry notes that 140 more people have recovered from covid-19.
