Two men fatally shot by police in separate incidents

Two men were fatally shot in separate incidents involving members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force yesterday (January 3, 2020).

 

One of the deceased has been identified as 29-year-old Mikhail Cunningham, otherwise called ‘Lucifer’, ‘Nickoy’, ‘Oshane’ and ‘X’ of King Street, Montego Bay, St. James.

 

The other man has not yet been identified.

 

Reports are that Cunningham was fatally shot during a confrontation with the police, during a joint police/military operation on King Street, in Montego Bay.

 

The police say a Taurus 9MM pistol with a magazine containing four rounds of ammunition was seized during the incident.

 

In the meantime, the unidentified man was shot and killed during an alleged confrontation with police in Crescent district, Spanish Town, St. Catherine.

 

The St. Catherine police say a Taurus submachine gun with eight 9MM cartridges was seized in that incident.

 

Both matters have been reported to the Inspectorate and Professional Standards Oversight Bureau (IPROB) and the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM).
