The University of the West Indies is undertaking an investigation into the sale of certificates purporting to be undergraduate and post graduate degrees conferred by the UWI.

The University in a statement says the issue is highly concerning and condemns the actions of those involved.  It is urging employers, educational institutions and all others concerned to be vigilant and on the alert for these non-genuine documents.

The UWI says all its certificates have security features to guarantee authenticity.

However, it’s encouraging any organization in doubt of the legitimacy of degrees or certificates to contact the Examinations Sections for verification

The UWI is also asking persons who come into possession of these counterfeit documents to report the matter to the Fraud Unit of the Constabulary.
