7 Guns Seized In 24 Hours

The police are reporting that they seized seven firearms and 33 assorted rounds of ammunition across the island in the past 24 hours.

Seven people have been arrested and one alleged robber shot and killed during several incidents across the country.

Three guns and assorted rounds of ammunition were seized in St Catherine yesterday.

These include one homemade firearm with one point .38 round, one Taurus 9mm pistol with eleven rounds and a 9mm Bryco handgun.

Also yesterday, a Heckler and Koch 9mm pistol, with a magazine containing eleven 9mm rounds was seized during a robbery attempt at a plaza on Molynes Road, Kingston 10.

Meanwhile, about 1:34 this morning, The Constant Spring Police seized one Beretta pistol during a vehicle check-point on Whitehall Avenue.

Hours later, lawmen in Frome, Westmoreland seized a Colt 9mm pistol, a .45 semi-automatic pistol, two magazines, eight 9mm rounds and two .45 rounds.

The Police High Command is reminding the public to play their part in reducing criminal activities by reporting illegal weapons and other criminal offences.

Anyone with information on illegal weapons and suspicious activities should contact Crime Stop at 311 or 811, police 119 emergency number or the nearest police station.
