New date set for PEP Ability Test

by January 29th, 2021

The Education Ministry has set a new date for the administration of the Grade Six Primary Exit Profile  PEP Ability Test.  The new date is March 25.    The original date was February 23.

Minister of Education Youth and Information, Fayval Williams notes that despite the Grade 6 Ability Test not requiring learnt knowledge based on the Grade 6  curriculum, the Ministry decided to set a new date to give more preparation time to students.

She said this decision came after extensive consultation with stakeholders including parents, teachers, principals and the Jamaica Teachers’ Association.

A ministry statement says the consensus that emerged was for additional preparation time so that students could be more intellectually and emotionally ready.

The JTA earlier this week called for a review of the PEP Exam timetable.
