by February 16th, 2021

Kalina Collier, the Jet Blue flight attendant who allegedly claimed that she was kidnapped in Jamaica, has been fired.

The update was given by the tourism ministry in a statement today.

Collier, who is a stewardess for the company, claimed that she was being held hostage in Jamaica, when in fact, she had tested positive for Covid, and had been placed in isolation, as per government protocols.

The tourism ministry said Chief Executive Officer of Jet Blue Airways Robin Hayes, issued a personal apology to the Jamaican government and the people of Jamaica earlier today, following the recent controversial actions of Ms. Collier.

While speaking with Tourism Minister Edmund Bartlett earlier today, Mr. Hayes highlighted that Ms. Collier was suspended while the company continued investigations.

Bartlett said he was very heartened by the discussion he had with Mr. Hayes, adding that the apology from Jet Blue, due to the global concern and frustration caused by the incident, was well received.

The minister noted that, he is aware that the actions of the employee are in no way a reflection of the standards of Jet Blue.
